His will. His way. My Faith
Holy Week is a significant event in the Christian calendar that commemorates the last week of Jesus Christ's life, including his crucifixion and resurrection. This week is also known as Passion Week or Easter Week and is observed by millions of Christians worldwide.
The holy week begins with Palm Sunday, which marks Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem. We went to San Vicente church to attend this sacred event and we also bought palm leaves and we carry them in a procession, signifying our belief in Jesus Christ as the King of Kings.
Jesus cleaned the temple the following day, which is why it is known as Holy Monday. The Bible claims that Jesus was enraged by the temple's money changers and toppled their tables, declaring that the temple was intended to be a place of prayer.
Jesus proceeded to give lessons in the temple on Holy Tuesday, addressing the Pharisees and Sadducees who questioned his authority. Jesus used parables to respond to their questions and discussed the end times and judgment in his discourse.
According to the Bible, Judas Iscariot is thought to have betrayed Jesus on Holy Wednesday for the sum of thirty pieces of money, the day is also referred to as Spy Wednesday. Judas reportedly promised to betray Jesus to the chief priests, and from that day forward he actively sought out opportunities to do so.
Maundy Thursday is the day when Christians celebrate the Last Supper, which is the final meal that Jesus shared with his disciples before his arrest and crucifixion. During this meal, Jesus washed the feet of his disciples, and he instructed them to love and serve one another.
Good Friday is the most solemn day of the Holy Week, as it is the day when Jesus was crucified and died on the cross. According to the Bible, Jesus was crucified along with two criminals, and his body was taken down from the cross and placed in a tomb. We refrained our selves from eating of any kinds of meat.
Holy Saturday is the day when Jesus' body lay in the tomb, and it is a day of waiting and mourning. However, it is also a day of hope, as Christians believe that Jesus rose from the dead on the third day, which is celebrated on Easter Sunday.
Easter Sunday is the day of resurrection, and it is the most joyous day of the Christian calendar. Christians worldwide attend church services, and families gather to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who conquered death and gave believers the gift of eternal life.
Holy Week is a time of reflection, prayer, and celebration for Christians worldwide. It is a time to remember the sacrifice of Jesus Christ and to renew our commitment to follow him. Holy Week is a time of hope and joy, as we celebrate the resurrection of our Lord and Savior, who conquered death and gave us the promise of eternal life.
